About this product

A weather station is the cleanest introduction to real data. The BME280 measures temperature, humidity and barometric pressure over I2C, the 0.96 inch OLED shows live values, and the ESP8266 pushes every reading to ThingSpeak or Blynk so the class can open a graph of the last week from any browser.

The kit deliberately includes two temperature sensors. Comparing the cheap DHT22 against the more accurate BME280 on the same breadboard leads naturally into calibration, sensor error and averaging, the kind of discussion that turns a craft project into a science project. The BH1750 light sensor adds sunlight intensity for a fuller picture.

All parts fit on the supplied breadboard, so no soldering is needed. Sample sketches for Arduino IDE and MicroPython are provided, along with a worksheet on setting up a free ThingSpeak channel and reading the resulting charts.
