About this product

A microcontroller pin can source a few milliamps; a ceiling fan needs rather more. A relay module bridges that gap, letting a 5V logic signal close a contact rated for 10A at 250V AC. Each of the four channels has its own optocoupler, so a fault on the load side stays well away from your Arduino.

Screw terminals take the load wiring, and the common, normally-open and normally-closed contacts let you wire either on-when-triggered or off-when-triggered behaviour. Home automation projects, smart irrigation pumps, automatic street lights and Wi-Fi appliance control with a NodeMCU all use exactly this board.

One note for classrooms: mains wiring must always be done by a teacher or another adult. For student demonstrations we recommend switching a 12V lamp or a small DC pump instead of live AC.
